Bill Barbour - Beam of Life Team
I am a cancer survivor that has received the benefits from advances in Radiation Oncology at Penn-Medicine. As a survivor I believe that I have an obligation to help others that may find themselves, or a family member, or a friend in the midst of a cancer battle.
The Breakthrough Bike Challenge is an opportunity for me to help raise money for cancer research programs at the Abramson Cancer Center. Cancer has touched, and will touch, almost every one of us at some point. If not personally, then through a close friend or relative.
I have witnessed many people in treatment and I know first-hand how hard their battle is. I have lost a few friends and I have watched others survive their cancer - sometimes against the odds. Their individual battles have inspired me to do whatever I can do to help end cancer.
Ending cancer depends upon clinical research to develop new and more effective treatments. That is why The Breakthrough Bike Challenge is so important. All of the funds raised go to support the cancer research programs at the Penn-Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center.
Would you please consider supporting my Breakthrough Bike Challenge ride with your donation? For every mile of my ride I will be honoring someone that has battled cancer - so please include the name(s) of those that you wish to honor with your donation. No donation is too small.
It is truly an honor for me to return to Pennsylvania to help in whatever small way I can to help end cancer. A 30 or 60 mile ride is nothing compared to what each day is like for someone battling cancer.
On behalf of The Breakthough Bike Challenge and The Beam of Life Cycling Team, I thank you very much your donation!
After the ride I will let you know how the day went for me and our team.
