Why I Ride - Bruce Levine
The 2018 Breakthrough Bike Challenge will be September 16, 2018 in Birdsboro, Berks County, PA. 100% of the funds raised will benefit cancer research at Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center. Since last summer, we have seen remarkable events in the first FDA approval of a gene therapy on August 30, 2017- chimeric antigen receptor T cells for relapsed/refractory acute lumphoid leukemia in children and young adults. On May 1, 2018 the FDA approved CAR T cells for lymphoma. In the next few weeks, approval is expected from the European Medicines Agency. We are now testing cellular therapies in a number of solid cancers.
Why will I ride? To honor the memories of my Uncle Arthur and my Aunt Glenda. To honor the memories of dear friends Richard and Laurie Carroll. To honor the patients who have volunteered for our cancer immunotherapy clinical trials who have invested their faith and hope in our development of new medicines. To honor those living with cancer and those free from cancer. I know that I can make an impactful contribution to conquering this disease. Please support me and create hope for cancer patients by making a donation today.
Thank you for your support and I will keep you posted on my progress!
