Breakthrough Bike Challenge 2017

T-Cell Trekkers

Thank you for supporting our effort to raise funds for cancer research. 100% of the money you raise will support investigators at U.Penn's Abramson Cancer Center (our generous sponsors cover all administrative costs of the ride).

Penn uses the funds we raise to support young investigators who need data to qualify for larger NIH grants. Penn helps us identify these investigators through a rigorous vetting process. You can donate knowing your personal treasure will launch both a young scientist and potentially a new cure.

So where does our Team name ("T-Cell Trekkers") come from? We all have T-cells in our blood; they fight infection every hour of every day. Penn scientists are developing techniques to alter the genetic payload of these cells to turn them into cancer assassins. These procedures hold special promise for blood cancers like lymphoma (the type of cancer Mary Ann has). We ride to honor the mighty T-Cell!

We hope you can join us on September 17th. We have three distances mapped out in the beautiful Oley Valley. See this website for details. In addition to the breathtaking views, you will meet the winners of the grants we awarded with last year's funds (we granted $50,000 each to six young scientists), and learn first-hand how those funds are now hard at work.

Thank you again; we hope to see you on September 17th!

Chris & Mary Ann
